Gypsy Moth Information

In October of 2004, a Department of Public Work employee attended a Gypsy Moth seminar conducted by the Department of Natural Resources. Based on weather conditions in the spring of 2004, a proliferation of a fungus which attacks the Gypsy Moth caterpillar emerged which reduced the number of Gypsy Moths in the Town of Mukwonago. Aerial spraying also contributed to the reduced numbers. The Gypsy Moth numbers have drastically reduced to the point where the Town no longer qualifies under the DNR spray program. The DPW Foreman will continue to monitor the Gypsy Moth infestation in the Town of Mukwonago.
